Scott Ross
Born and raised in Union Lake, MI, Scott earned his BA degrees (1997) in Ceramics and Creative Writing from Eckerd College in St. Petersburg, FL. In 2012, he went on to earn his MFA in Sculpture from Southern Illinois University Edwardsville.
Over the past ten years, Scott has pursued his interests in sculpture, ceramics and installation as vehicles of self-expression. His work has been shown both nationally and internationally, including exhibitions at the International Ceramics Festival Mino (Japan), Museo del Vino (Italy), Laumeier Sculpture Park (MO), Nanfeng/Shiwan International Ceramics Museum (China) and The Tarble Arts Center (IL), to name a few. Since the spring of 2010, he has built several large-scale public works that are installed at SIUE (IL), Josephine Sculpture Park (KY), City of Evansville (IN), City of Frankfort Riverwalk (KY) and in the Granite City Sculpture Park (IL). Most recently he has been creating pieces for RH (formerly Restoration Hardware) that are on display throughout their global galleries; with additional representation by Kalpa Art Living based in Volterra (Italy).
Scott has been an honored visiting artist at institutions and residencies around the country and offers lectures and workshops upon request.
Scott is currently creating and wood-firing out of his original home studio in White Lake. He relentlessly seeks out new and dynamic ways of making and firing solid state ceramic pieces. Upcoming works in 2D are on the horizon.
