Francisco Esnayra

Grounded in the practice of sculpture and specifically in the realm of portraiture, Francisco Esnayra has conducted various experiments with materials, dimensions, and other visual aspects. It serves as a reflection of a peculiar spiritual journey, an internal quest for truths, understandings, and multiple discernments. Similarly, the facial expressions of each piece (complemented by the other elements in the composition) bear witness to certain mental states.

The face we see is always the same, Esnayra's, but in reality, it is nobody's and it is everybody's. From death masks and meditating heads to anguished countenances, distortion - whether in facial expression or specific proportions - is a recurring presence. At times, it may seem that his work explores, above all, the negative aspects of the psyche, but the perceptible decay is only a part of the inward journey; there is also calmness, ataraxia, and enlightened consciousness.
