Dionisio Ceballos
Dionisio Ceballos (b. 1972, Mexico City) is a Los Angeles–based multidisciplinary artist whose practice bridges painting, material experimentation, and spatial design. Known for his luminous chromatic intensity and dimensional surfaces, Ceballos explores the transformation of cultural memory into contemporary visual language.
His series Tiempo de Dioses reactivates pre-Hispanic codices as living systems rather than historical artifacts. Through layered oil, resin, and mixed media on wood, the works operate between painting and object—merging ancestral symbolism with abstraction. Figures such as the jaguar, maize, and warrior archetypes emerge through translucent strata, creating a dialogue between myth, material, and modernity.
