Modernism, Interrupted brings together works by contemporary artist to examine how the visual language of mid-century Modernism is reactivated, disrupted, and expanded through contemporary practice.

Set in dialogue with Modernism Week in Palm Springs, the exhibition draws from the region’s architectural legacy—clean lines, geometric order, and utopian ideals—while exposing their fractures. These artists adopt Modernist form not as homage, but as material: geometry bends, surfaces carry memory, and abstraction becomes a site of lived experience.

Across painting and mixed media, the works reveal interruptions—of history, of space, of expectation. The desert is no longer a neutral backdrop, but an active force shaping structure, color, and rhythm. Together, the artists propose a Modernism that is unfinished, human, and critically aware.
